He said he had come to prepare new dialog between Sukhumi and Tbilisi and promote resumption of Georgian-Abkhaz negotiations.

It is important to rebuilt confidence, Guehenno said at a meeting with Abkhaz Parliament Speaker Nugzar Ashuba. Georgia has reaffirmed the wish to work on peaceful settlement of the conflict, and the United Nations hopes to assist that process, he said.
